ParallelChain Lab (https://parallelchain-lab.io/) is  seeking an experienced technical leader to head the layer-1 blockchain engineering team at ParallelChain Lab. In this role, you will guide engineers through the intricate processes required to build and deliver breakthrough blockchain software. This includes designing, implementing, testing, and releasing such varied and mission-critical system software components as: 

  • State machine replication libraries.
  • Sandboxed smart contract execution engines.
  • Peer-to-peer networking libraries.

Duties:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Craft and execute a coherent technical strategy that aligns with our company’s business goals. Lead the blockchain engineering team in implementing strategic initiatives, driving technological innovation, and ensuring the development of scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions.
  • Project Management: Thoroughly digest the interdependencies of each engineering project and the ability to sort out and resolve the changing priority, and the delays.
  • Documentation: Champion and produce one-stop quality documentation, including but not limited to specification, and relevant/meaningful comments embedded in the coding.
  • Design and Code Reviews: Conduct engineering reviews with the engineers to ensure the clean code standard has been followed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Act as a linchpin between the blockchain team and other teams, ensuring clear communication and cohesive collaboration. Work closely with peers teams, specifically, other engineering teams, quality control and release, and marketing and business development to align technical developments with market demands and customer needs.
  • Operational Efficiency: Optimise engineering processes and practices to improve efficiency and quality. Implement metrics and KPIs to measure performance and progress towards departmental and company objectives.
  • Team Development and Mentorship: Oversee and support the professional growth of the engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Ensure the team is motivated, engaged, and equipped with the skills and tools necessary to achieve their best work.
  • Technical Excellence and Innovation: Maintain and advance a deep understanding of the latest technology trends and best practices. Encourage the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies to solve complex problems and enhance product development and performance.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant disciplines. Master’s degree or PhD is a plus. 
  • 5+ years of experience managing high-performing software engineering teams.
  • 3+ years of personal experience in backend engineering, secured systems, or public blockchain platforms is preferred.
  • Strong command of the full software development and release lifecycle. Experience in delivering products to mass users.
  • Experience leading distributed systems, primarily big data analytics products and backend microservices and preferably blockchain engineering. 
  • Proven record driving software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous integration, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to be flexible and proactive, driving clarity while working with minimal or ambiguous specifications.
  • Experience with certain software development methodologies is valuable.
