Apple is in talks with ChatGPT-maker OpenAI to use its AI technology on the iPhone and the new features are likely to be introduced in iOS 18 if the deal comes through, according to Bloomberg.

Bloomberg's Michael Gurman, who spoke to people familiar with the matter, said Apple is in the final stages of reaching a formal agreement with OpenAI.

The upcoming iOS 18 is expected to get important features including generative AI and Siri functionalities.

This comes as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is set to make a key announcement regarding an upgrade in ChatGPT on May 13. The Microsoft-backed startup is developing a virtual voice assistant similar to Siri.

Gurman reported that Apple's talks with Google about using Gemini AI on iPhones are still going on. On May 14, Google is reportedly planning to unveil its new Android 15 OS with AI upgrades at the Google I/O event.
