We are a private educational foundation that encourages thought and discussion of enduring issues about liberty.

Liberty Fund offers a rich set of educational programs. These include Socratic-style conferences, thought-provoking books, and engaging online resources focused on the understanding and appreciation of the complex nature of a free and responsible society.

GORDON WOOD IS THE RECIPIENT OF THE INAUGURAL GEORGE F. WILL AWARD

We are honored to announce that Gordon Wood, the noted historian of the American Revolution, is the winner of the inaugural George F. Will Award for the Advancement of Liberty and the Free Society. The Award celebrates original thinkers who, like George F. Will, have made exceptional contributions to the public’s understanding of individual liberty, markets, self-government, constitutional government, and the rule of law.

Liberty Fund History

Liberty Fund was founded in 1960 by Pierre F. Goodrich to make a hopeful contribution to the “preservation, restoration, and development of individual liberty through investigation, research, and educational activity.”

Today, Liberty Fund’s programs focus on the understanding and appreciation of the complex nature of a society of free and responsible individuals.

THE GOODRICH SEMINAR ROOM

Designed by Pierre Goodrich to encourage the discussion and exploration of texts he valued for their contribution to individual liberty and education, the Goodrich Seminar Room is not merely a monument to the great thinkers of the past. It is an invitation to engage with them and to take part in their conversations. Step into the Goodrich Seminar Room to learn more.

Global Reach | Individual Impact

Liberty Fund has hosted thousands of conferences in the United States and around the world. These invitation-only events bring together a diverse mix of scholars and professionals to explore ideas of liberty.

Liberty Fund conferences seek to illuminate individual liberty and responsibility through the informal and open, yet serious, discussion of ideas that shape human civilization and the free society.
