Etcher consistently uses cpu whilst id in the background #2447

  • Etcher version: 1.4.4
  • Operating system and architecture: Win10 x64
  • Image flashed: N/A
  • Do you see any meaningful error information in the DevTools? From the profiler it looks like it's constantly scanning devices, even when on the success screen (and there's no drive selection to update)

Same behaviour on MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) with Etcher v1.4.5. Etcher, when open, is constantly scanning devices no matter the context. It is quite disconcerting to hear an external HDD chug away when you aren't expecting it.

Performance monitor on MacOS is showing ~600-700 iops while Etcher is open, reading about ~1.2MB/sec.
